"Polish Magic" = 5 Goals + 3 Assists = Victory

Piotr Drwal, of Poland, is making sure that he leaves his mark on Wentworth Military College in many ways.

On Thursday night, Drwal left his mark by etching his name in the record books and scoring five goals in a college soccer match.

The Wentworth Red Dragons have had a tough season so far, going to 3 overtime games and losing several key players to injuries, luck just hasn't gone the Red Dragons' way thus far. Piotr Drwal and his fellow Polish counterpart made sure that the match against Central Methodist University wasn't based on luck.

Drwal started the first half at left defensive back and scored a goal for the Red Dragons. At halftime, the match was tied 1-1. Then the change was made to move Drwal from his defensive position to forward. "I really just wanted to try it for about 10 minutes to spread the defense out a little bit," said Kevin Farley, Head Soccer Coach of Wentworth Military College.

The change worked like a charm and the Red Dragons needed all five of Drwal's goals to win their match against Central Methodist University 5-4.

In addition to Drwal's record setting day in goals, fellow Polish native, Piotr Wojenski is placing his name in the record books by assisting goals on the season. He assisted on three of Drwal's five goals and has assisted approximately 80% of the goals on the season so far.

The Wentworth Red Dragons college soccer team will be on the road this weekend where they will travel to St. Louis and Illinois to take on St. Louis Community College and Lindenwood-Belleville University. Lindenwood-Belleville University is the reigning USCAA National Champion. The matches will be played at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
